Our Collaborators
Sharing our love of Colombian coffee is just the beginning. Through collaboration with local artists, painters and hand-crafters, now we can share the people with you too. We invite you to meet some of the artists we are working with and want to take a minute to say ‘thanks’. Your purchase says, ‘we see you’, and is a real encouragement to these talented individuals to keep on going. Here’s one of our collaborators.

Meet Liliana. She is the owner of MissPex. If you ever get the chance to talk to her, you will immediately recognize that creativity runs through her veins. After spending more than 10 years in advertising, Liliana stepped out to explore her creativity, and found passion. She says, “it’s a little bit punk and that’s how I feel sometimes”.
Her introduction to ceramics was basic – a former painter, she began painting skulls that someone made for her and fell in love with the curves. She wanted more. With the help of a few basic lessons, she quickly learned that, “the organic process of mud and clay is intensely satisfying”, and started making her own objects. Liliana gifted her first few pieces to friends and family, and with the help of social media stepped out to work with local business owners to create one-of-a-kind pieces for restaurants, cosmetics counters, health and wellness stores…and Simply Colombian.
So what’s next?
MissPex’s passion knows no limits. In the last several years she’s also identified an affection for teaching. Currently, she and a few friends are working on taking her studio to the next level by organizing a teaching school, “right now, pottery isn’t recognized as a career in Colombia”, says Liliana. Big picture, this means taking pottery from a hobby to a certified trade – we call that trailblazing. When you are passionate about what you do, the possibilities are endless.
